I’m Back! …. Again….

Hi Everyone,

I am back again and this time to stay. I feel much better now even though I am still having some trouble eating like normal. I’m hoping that I can eat whatever I want again in a few days. I am deeply craving chocolate, but it is a bit too hard to eat at this stage. Besides the surgery I had recently, I’ve also moved back to my university. Classes start tomorrow which is pretty exciting, but it is also a bit frightening. Regardless, I want to keep posting on the blog as often as I can and have some ideas for future posts. I am planning on writing some of these ideas out today and possibly even posting some. Look forward to those!

Until next time,

I’m back!

Its been a few days, but I wanted to let you know that I survived! I’m still not feeling my best and probably won’t be for another while. However, I wanted to post a quick something for you guys despite being hopped up on painkillers and looking like a chipmunk. I thought it might be fitting to talk about some well learned lessons that have come from my wisdom teeth extraction. It was an interesting experience, but it had some cool parts to it too.

  1. Don’t freak out too much.

I freaked out so much before hand I couldn’t eat or sleep properly for a week. This is not the best idea if it can be avoided. In the end, I wasn’t freaked out when I sat in the operating room, but I feel like I wasted a lot of time being freaked out.

2. Take photos of the teeth.

If you want to see the teeth, take a photo of them. My oral surgeon doesn’t allow patients to take their teeth home, but I wanted to see them. Thinking back, I don’t actually remember seeing them even though I know that I did. I’m very thankful I took photos of them. Perhaps I will show you guys if you want. The fun thing about having a picture is to see how big they were and what they looked like. I was surprised how big the teeth actually were.

3. Have stuff to eat.

I love food. Not being able to eat normally is driving me crazy, but I am glad that I put aside some foods ahead of time to eat. Instant breakfast shakes, pudding, ice cream and jello have been very helpful these past few days. Surprisingly cheese cake has been a great option too.

So there you have it, my top three take-away lessons from having my wisdom teeth removed. I’m sure there are plenty of other things I could take away from this experience, but I will let the healing continue and post on those later.

Until next time,

Sunday Funday?

Hey there!

I had something else planned to post today, but I unfortunately won’t be able to finish that piece for tonight. I’ll be honest, I’m really tired. Sundays are usually really great days for me. I get to go to church, spend time with my boyfriend, cook great food and relax. However, this week is a bit different for me. I’ve been really stressed. Actually, anxious. At the end of this week I am having my wisdom teeth removed and it has been freaking me out! I’m a bit older than most people who get them out, but luckily they are pretty straight so it should be very easy to remove. I suppose the unknown experience is unsettling, but I’m starting to feel a bit better about it for now. I just need to catch up on lost sleep and try to remain calm as best as I can! You can look forward to seeing more posts soon, but just be warned that posts might be less next week due to healing.

Until next time,

Bigfoot and Relaxation

Here I am checking in on this lovely Sunday evening. I think I’ve done pretty well with the goals I have set out for the blog this past week. I have posted more, but am still looking to create a more regular posting schedule. As for more photos, my camera still has yet to be set up again. This is one goal that needs to carry on into next week. Overall, this has been a good week though.

Today was especially good. Some great opportunities came up at church this morning and I enjoyed the pastor’s sermon a lot. To add to the good day, I had lunch with my boyfriend and had the pleasure of visiting Chapters. I love going there! It has to be one of my favourite stores to visit. Today was an extra nice visit as both of us purchased some desired items. My boyfriend bought a graphic novel and one of Stephen’s Kings novels, and I got a lapdesk and a file for my tax papers (eww taxes). As I sit here using my beautiful new lapdesk, I can already tell it is going to make productivity a lot better for the blog and my work. I’m also happy that today I finally got some relaxation in too. For fun, I watched a documentary called “Bigfoot’s Reflection” and have to say I don’t know what to think about it now. Maybe there is a creature like that out there in the woods. Who knows! Anyway, I hope you are all having a relaxing weekend and I look forward to sharing with you all more next week.

Until next time,

Pee Puddles and Potential Vacations

Last week I had another one of those crazy days. Although it was more relaxing than normal at work, there were a few unfortunate incidents. For starters, one of the youngest kids had a rough day and had an accident. After making sure the child was alright, I proceeded to clean up the floor with a mop and bucket. However, I accidentally knocked a roll of tape into the bucket of dirty water. It was pretty gross… especially since I had to retrieve the roll with glove-less hands. Despite this incident and the later soaking by a shaken pop, I wanted to post something today on the blog. I have been feeling a little bit worn down lately, which got me thinking about vacations. There is no way that I am able to take a vacation this year, but I thought of so many places I might want to go in the future.

I would love to rent a cottage by the lakeside. It sounds so nice to sit in a comfy lawn chair by the lake and look up at the stars as the waves hit the shore. I love the idea of hiking through the woods, taking a boat out on the water, and having a bonfire every night. I think it would even count as a romantic honeymoon.A second place I would love to visit would be Disney World. I have been there before, but I would love to go again and have the chance to visit the places I didn’t get a chance to see. On the other hand, a Disney cruise would be really fun too. I really like the idea of having a blast while relaxing.

These are just a few ideas I’ve had but these two vacation destinations seem the most likely locations I would visit. Hopefully I can get to one of them soon, but day dreaming will work until then. Is there somewhere you would love to vacation right now? Leave it in a comment!

Until next time,

What a Week!

I’m really happy to know that I met my goal of posting at least twice this week. Hopefully I can keep that number up and even increase it. I’m finding that writing has really been good for me. Brainstorming new ideas and expressing myself has made me feel a lot less stressed and has allowed me to make some pretty big goals. I am so pleased to let you guys know that this week I have come up with over 30 ideas for this blog. As I commute to work, I have been trying to brainstorm different topics I want to write on. I’m so excited to share some of these ideas with you! Some of these ideas may take some time to show up because they are a bit complicated, but the prospect of them is thrilling! As for the week, it was quite stressful at work. The kids were really hyper and defiant. Regardless, everyone seemed to have a good time.

This week, I am hoping to keep up posting here and sharing some of my brainstormed ideas. I am hoping that this week will be less stressful and that I can get some more work done. As a side note, I would really like to organize my desk again. It is getting a bit cluttered and I know there are many things that can be done to fix that. Heres to a productive week and lots of blog posts!

Until Next Time,

Penny Pinching

As many of you might have noticed, life is expensive. Everything seems to cost money and sometimes things cost more than you expect. I don’t know about you, but some days I feel really down about the expenses that are put on people. In case you haven’t already guessed, I’m in university which makes money problems much worse. School is unbelievably expensive and so is the cost of transportation, living expenses, and going out with friends. It can get to be a lot to think about. However, it can be a comfort to know that God provides for people. Maybe not in the ways we always expect, but He does provide. It helps we when I focus on this thought and remind myself about not worrying.

“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”                                                                                                                                                                        – Matthew 6:34

When I begin to worry about money, this Bible verse comes to mind. It helps me to not worry as much, but this is not why I wanted to write this post. Continue reading “Penny Pinching”

The Life of a Busy Bee

Hi Everyone,

So you may have noticed that I have not been writing very consistently lately. I’m sorry for that. I have recently started work which is very rewarding but insane. The reason it is both rewarding and insane is because I am currently working with children. Many, many children. They are awesome, but they definitely have moments that cause myself and the other adults to wonder why we are there. Some of these children are deeply troubled and are kept in my prayers as it takes a great deal of patience and strength to manage their behaviour. Don’t get me wrong though, I love my job. I have been craving a new type of job for some time and this has really met those needs. Also, it is so awesome to be a positive role model for kids when the world is in the state it is. It is awesome to challenge them each day to be creative, learn, and reach for their dreams. Yes, it is tiring, but well worth it.

In a nutshell, this is where I have been. I have been working with the kids and coming home pretty tired. I have started writing a few blog posts but have crashed in the midst of writing out my ideas. My goal is to not let life get too busy. I think it is really important to take time to smell the roses, whatever that means. For me, taking some time to write a piece about whats on my mind is important. I think that keeping your mind sharp takes exercise just like keeping your body fit does. So I propose that I will try to post at least two things each week. I hope to do more than just two but that may not be possible right now. In the meantime, please let me know if there are any topics you would like me to discuss. Leave a comment and I will try to get to those first. Now I’m off to write some more!
